We’re so proud to share that our founder and principal family lawyer, Ella Hickman, has been named as a winner in the 2021 40under40 Awards.
The 40under40 Awards is a prestigious program that seeks to recognise and celebrate Western Australia’s leading entrepreneurs, innovators, and future business leaders under the age of 40.
The awards aim to recognise not only personal determination, commercial drive and business success, but also acknowledges those who make important philanthropic and community contributions.
The judging panel for 2021 included 29 of WA’s top business leaders with the relevant expertise to consider all entrants and choose the winning list of leaders. Some of the judges included Michelle Ammerer (cardiologist at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital), Sue Pember (founder and director of AussieOS Global Mobility Services) and Amy Stanley (EGM People & Corporate Affairs at HBF).
This year’s awards ceremony was held at Crown Perth on 1 March. It marked the 20th anniversary of the event, celebrating the state’s top business talent across a range of sectors including finance, health, law and community.
The overall winner for the evening, named as First Among Equals, was Damion Verhoogt, managing director of Bruce Rock Engineering.
Chief judge Mark Beyer (senior editor at Business News) noted on the evening that the judges were looking for people with a track record of sustained success over a period of several years, as well as people who were willing to take a risk, and those who drove change.
Ella Hickman was chosen for her dedication to the field of family law and how much she has developed and grown her business, Hickman Family Lawyers in Perth. Ella joined the practice, formerly known as Cobalt Legal in 2016, and subsequently bought the business, rebranded as Hickman Family Lawyers, and has grown the business from a 2-person practice to a team of 16 staff.
Well done Ella, and well done to all the winners!
